yeah new tools

Logan and I with part of my new Makita power tools set.

Logan with my new "camera". He loves it because he can see in the dark or in other he can go get his toys without needing me or Ashley having to turn the lights os for him. It took him all of two seconds to figure out how turn it on and off.

my tube bender

While it is out of focus that is the utah quarter in the top of the pins for the tubing bender.

Profile of the finished pin. All work including the knurling at the top was done on the lathe at wyotech.

The pin in place in the bender.

These two pictures show the reinforcement for the handle it is 1/4 inplate over 1x2x.120 rectangular tubing.

This is the rachet piece. This took a day and a half on the vertical mill to machine out every tooth (11) on it. Since it is 3/4 of an inch thick and I could only take .010 of an inch at a time it took 825 passes on the mill to complete all with no autofeed.

This is where the handle fits onto on the bender. I put in the extra gusset where it would normally be open. You can also see that the arms are made from the same 3/4 inch plate as the rachet. This creates a much stronger but heavier piece of equipment.

This is the custom bracket I made. Normally there would only be two pieces of tubing but I decided that holding up the rachet to apply more direct forces would be a good idea so I spent a little time on the mill making this really cool part.

The finished product in all its glory. It makes the ones at school look like little girly benders.

Yea, I'm DONE!!!

On Friday December 19, 2008 Sean graduated from WyoTech. He finished top in his class recieving an award for being the Outstanding Student in his class. Unfortunately, his teachers did not submit his name soon enough before graduation so he did not get to recieve one of the fancy plaques that the Outstanding Students in other classes recieved. But we know that Sean is amazing and we are all so proud of him and his accomplishments! Sean finished with a 93% cumulative GPA, which is awesome! He is now working on building up his tool supply to get ready to put his skills to work and enjoying every minute of it.

Logan enjoyed running around and climbing up and down the steps of the auditorium while we waited for the graduation ceremony to start.
Logan was very excited for his Daddy!

Many special Thanks to all of our family for their support and help as we have been on this journey, we could not have done it without you. Thankyou, we love you!

Ward Christmas Party

Our ward Christmas party was Saturday evening. Sean and I spend most of the day Saturday helping to decorate the cultural hall to get ready. The decorations turned out pretty good, everybody had a good time.
This is what Logan looked like most of the evening. He does not have a medium speed, it is stop or go-really-fast. He enjoyed running around with other kids up and down the gym and stage. Of all of the little kids in the ward that were running around, guess who was the one who found the bag of candy canes that were hidden for Santa to pass out! I found him covered in sticky slobbery red juice, trying to get the candy out of the wrapper.

These are some of the beautiful decorations.

Santa came to visit our Christmas party, of corse. Many of the adults commented on how skinny Santa is this year. When Santa entered the gym, Logan saw him accross the room and pointed to Santa and said, "That's Daddy!" If he sees a picture of another Santa he will say "Santo Claus" but a picture of our party Santa and Logan knows it is Daddy. Genius child!
I think that knowing who was in the Santa suit was actually better for Logan. I dont think we would have gotten him to sit on Santa's lap and smile for a picture otherwise.

Even the big kids loved our Santa.

Logan

"My Owie!"
Logan got an owie when he got his finger stuck in the drawer of daddy's toolbox. It was pretty traumatic until he got a bandaid to make it all better. Now he gets frantic if he loses the bandaid until he gets a new one. While Logan and I were playing, he picked out a couple dinosaurs, arranged them on his bed, then informed me that we needed to take a picture of them.
After we took pictures of the dinosaurs, Logan joined them. He was so very proud!

Oakland Temple

Last Saturday we took a trip to the Oakland Temple with the youth in the ward. We went to the visitors center first to see the statue display. There were statues of several different scenes from Christ's life. They were beautiful. Afterward, we headed outside to wait for the Christmas lights to be turned on.
This is Bro. Alconcel from the Bishopric. They were late turning on the lights so we got a little bored!

Before Christmas lights.

By the time the lights finally turned on, it was past Logan's bedtime and we were all very hungry.
We are waiting for the lights. . . waiting, waiting, waiting. We're still happy, aren't we?
Logan found some little girls to play with. The woman on Logan's right has a little chihuahua puppy in her arms.
Yea! lights!

Brian and Melanie Alconcel. What a cute couple!

Logan

Sean was sharing a candy cane with Logan, but when it was all gone, Logan wanted more. He knew that Sean had put the last bite in his mouth so he decided to hunt it down!
